How a trouble call works

  1. Call 800-784-8942. Tell us the building address, the panel brand and what the display or LEDs show.
  2. We dispatch a licensed technician – same day for most emergencies, otherwise next business day.
  3. Diagnose and quote. The tech identifies the cause and gives you a price before doing the repair.
  4. Repair, test and reset. The system is returned to normal and the central station is notified.
  5. Written service report for your records and your fire inspector.

After the repair: stay compliant

Most trouble calls we see are on systems that have missed their annual inspection. Ask about our annual fire alarm inspection & testing so small problems are caught before they become emergencies.

Frequently Asked Questions

My fire alarm panel is beeping. What does it mean?

A beeping panel is almost always a trouble or supervisory signal – the system is telling you something needs attention (low battery, ground fault, a disconnected device, loss of monitoring communication, AC power loss). The panel display or trouble LED will usually say which. Pressing Silence stops the sound but does not fix the problem, and many panels start beeping again every few hours until it is corrected.

Can I just unplug the panel to stop the beeping?

Please don’t. Disconnecting a fire alarm panel leaves the building unprotected, may violate your fire code and insurance requirements, and in monitored buildings will send a signal to the central station. Call us instead – we can usually get a technician out the same or next business day.

What does ‘Ground Fault’ mean?

A wire somewhere in the system is touching ground – often from water intrusion, a damaged cable, a rodent-chewed wire or a loose terminal. Our technicians isolate the circuit, locate the fault and repair it.

What does ‘Comm Fail’ or ‘Communication Trouble’ mean?

The panel cannot reach the monitoring central station. Common causes are a disconnected phone line, a failed cellular/IP communicator, or a change by the phone company. We can repair or replace the communicator.

Do you repair residential smoke alarms?

Our focus is commercial fire alarm systems (control panels with pull stations, horns and strobes). For battery smoke alarms in a single-family home, replacing the unit is usually the fix. For apartment and condo buildings with a fire alarm panel, yes – call us.
